Repeat order from a long-standing South African customer passes the performance tests

The new production line, which is located in the Kwa–Zulu Natal province, has a clinker capacity of 1,500 tpd, upgradeable to 3000 tpd.

The contract for the Simuna Kiln 2 project was signed in October 2005 with the South African Company Natal Portland Cement, which is a part of the international Cimpor Group headquartered in Portugal. Cimpor is one of the global leading producers of cement, and NPC-Cimpor (Pty) Ltd in South Africa is one of many cement companies owned by the group.

NPC-Cimpor Simuma’s first production line, which has an installed capacity of 500,000 tonnes per annum, was supplied by FLSmidth 26 years ago. The line has been in trouble-free operation since then, and it was with great pride that FLSmidth received the order for Kiln Line 2.

Originally, the cement mill was not included in the contract. But a mill that FLSmidth had supplied to another Cimpor project in Brazil was not needed here and could therefore be transferred to Simuma.

Excellent cooperation between the Cimpor and FLSmidth teams resulted in a very successful project.
