The biggest SF Cross-Bar cooler yet

Cement plants need the right equipment in order to have the most reliable performance and sustainable production. So when China’s Tianrui Group Cement Company needed a cooler for its massive new 12,000 tpd kiln in Xingyang, it partnered with FLSmidth to build the world’s largest SF Cross-bar cooler.

Crossbar Cooler

Tianrui Group Cement Company wanted a single cement production line for its Xingyang plant in China. But this required a cooler that could match a massive kiln that produces 12,000 tonnes per day. FLSmidth rose to the challenge, installing the world’s largest SF Cross-Bar cooler to date – an SF 6x8.

FLSmidth’s SF Cross-Bar cooler is simple to operate and easy to maintain, so it’s no wonder it’s used in cement plants all over the world. Based on a modular design, the SF Cross-Bar cooler is flexible enough to serve a wide range of kiln types and sizes. And this flexibility made the SF Cross-Bar cooler the perfect choice for the Xingyang plant.

Modular cooler concept

Inside Crosbar Cooler

FLSmidth’s unique modular cooler system consists of fixed inlet modules and a group of standard modules that are preassembled in the workshop, ensuring high quality and swift installation. This system also allows for different configuration patterns to suit various cooler sizes, production levels and clinker temperatures. And because it uses stan- dard mechanical components, the SF Cross-Bar cooler can be delivered fast. The plant also features the largest Duoflex burner ever designed by FLSmidth.

A smooth partnership for a single production line

Project Manager Per Andersen was pleased with the partnership between FLSmidth Denmark, FLSmidth China and the customer. Says Per, “We worked together to keep transport and production costs down. The electric equipment, hydraulics and other key components came from Denmark, but as much as possible was supplied locally.”

As well as the largest SF cooler ever manufactured, the Xingyang plant has two FLSmidth ATOX raw mills on its single cement production line. The plant also features the largest Duoflex kiln burner ever designed and supplied by FLSmidth.

According to Per, the cooler is now in operation and successfully handling the kiln’s output. The line is “performing great, with all the FLSmidth systems up and running.”
